Setup Guide

Step 1: Create an Account

  1. Visit cookiefa.st
  2. Click "Sign Up" in the top right
  3. Enter your email and password
  4. Verify your email (check your inbox)

Step 2: Create a Property

  1. Log in to your dashboard
  2. Click "Add Property"
    • Remember, during this step you might be prompted to buy a new property depending on your chosen plan
  3. Fill in the form with:
    • Website URL: https://yoursite.com
      • ⚠️ This is very important as your snippet will only work in this website.
    • Display Name: A website name, ID, or customer's ID for your site
    • Privacy Policy URL: relative URL /privacy or full URL https://example.com/privacy
    • Cookie Policy URL: relative URL /cookies or full URL https://example.com/cookies
  4. Click "Create Property"

Your property is now created with a unique API key!

Remember

A property, once created, cannot be deleted and its URL cannot be modified by you.
If you need, you can deactivate it by the enable/disable switch in your property management page.

If you need to get rid of it or there was an error contact support

Step 3: Get Your Embed Code

After creating a property, you'll see your embed code:

Step 4: Add to Your Website

Your embed snippet needs to be put in your website HTML. You can check Implementation Section for a framework and platform specific guide on how to do that.

Framework-Specific Instructions

Always remember: if you manage to embed your snippet, CookieFast will work regardless of your plaftorm. If your platform is not listed it doesn't mean you are not compatible, it means you need a manual installation.

Step 5: Configure your callbacks

You can now decide what code to fire or scripts to embed depending on your users choices. Head to Configuration page to know more about this

Step 6: Configure your "Cookie Settings" link

- This step is optional but highly recommended -

Once installed, CookieFast scans your HTML in search of an element with id cookiefast-banner-trigger. Implementing this element users will be able to see the banner again and redact their choices whenever they want, when this element is clicked.

CookieFast users usually implement a small link in their website footers to handle this behaviour as explained.

Step 7: Test It!

  1. Visit your website
  2. If you're in the EEA: The banner should appear immediately
  3. If you're outside the EEA: No banner (cookies auto-accepted)

i.e: To test the banner while in the US, use a VPN or browser dev tools to spoof your location.
